Certificate in Basic English
Synopsis
The Certificate in Basic English is an introductory Basic English preparatory programme aimed at teaching students the basic areas of the Basic English via Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
The Basic English is open to all students, 16 years and above with no formal academic qualifications required but it is preferred that students must have completed at least primary education in their country of origin.
Duration
Each level may be completed within 3 months for part-time students.
Entry Requirements
Prospective students need not have any minimum academic requirements. However, ALBM prefers students to have completed their primary education. Students must be at least 16 years of age at the time of enrolment.
Learning Outcome
The Basic English Course is designed to equip students with the basics of the Basic English particularly in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills. At the end of each level, students are expected to be competent at that level before progressing to their next level.

Assessment Methods
Students are required to sit for a final examination paper to ascertain their level of competency in the courses. Students are required to complete their 3-month course before sitting for the final examination.
Exemptions
Students who enrol for this course will not be granted any exemptions as this is a basic Basic English preparatory course that aims to instruct students on the basics of the Basic English.
Award
Upon the successful completion of this course and passing the final assessment, students will be awarded the Certificate in Basic English. This course is developed by ALBM and the certificate is awarded by ALBM.
