Certificate in Foreign Languages - Japanese


The Certificate in Japanese Language is an introductory Japanese preparatory programme aimed at teaching students the basic areas of the Japanese Language via Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

The Japanese Language programme is open to all students, 16 years and above with no formal academic qualifications required but it is preferred that students must have completed at least primary education in their country of origin.


Each level may be completed within 3 months for part-time students.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students need not have any minimum academic requirements. However, ALBM prefers students to have completed their primary education. Students must be at least 16 years of age at the time of enrolment.

Learning Outcome

The Japanese Language Course is designed to equip students with the basics of the Japanese Language particularly in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills. At the end of each level, students are expected to be competent at that level before progressing to their next level.

Assessment Methods

Students are required to sit for a final examination paper to ascertain their level of competency in the courses. Students are required to complete their 3-month course before sitting for the final examination.


Students who enrol for this course will not be granted any exemptions as this is a basic Japanese preparatory course that aims to instruct students on the basics of the Japanese Language.


Upon the successful completion of this course and passing the final assessment, students will be awarded the Certificate in Japanese Language. This course is developed by ALBM and the certificate is awarded by ALBM.
